Tigers Slip In Neutral Site Match Against Radford

NEW ORLEANS--The Memphis Tigers stumbled against Radford in the final outing of their four-match road stand, dropping a 5-2 decision to the Highlanders at Tulane's Goldring Tennis Center on Friday.
The Tigers fall to 9-6 overall with the non-conference loss and sit at 2-3 against Conference USA opponents this season. Meanwhile, Radford improves to a 9-3 mark.
The Highlanders struck first in the neutral site matchup, capturing the doubles point with victories at the top two flights, but U of M freshman Joe Salisbury tied up the dual match at one-all with a 6-1, 6-3 downing of Nick Sayer.
However, Memphis would struggle to ride Salisbury's momentum in the remaining singles slots, as freshman David O'Hare fell at No.1 to 67th-ranked Ivan Salec, 6-2, 6-3, junior David Henry dropped to Thomas Dehaen 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 5 position, giving RU a 3-1 advantage.
Redshirt junior Leon Nasemann pulled the Tigers to within one with a 7-6, 6-1 win at No. 3 against Igor Ogrizek, but Stijn Meulemans clinched the match for Radford with a win against freshman Johnny Grimal at the No. 4 position. Grimal forced a third set but came up short in the end, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2.
Memphis is back on the court for mid-week action against Drake University on Wednesday, March 16 at 1 p.m. at The Racquet Club of Memphis.
