• Freshman guard Will Barton scored in double figures for the fifth game in a row. He finished with 20 points, the fourth 20-point performance of his career and first since Dec. 1, 2010 against Arkansas State. The Tigers leading scorer is now averaging 13.2 points per game.
• Memphis committed just 13 turnovers, their fewest since committing 11, Jan. 2, against Tennessee State.
• The loss is the Tigers first to Marshall since a Dec. 23, 1952, loss in Huntington, W. Va. It is the first loss suffered by the U of M at the hands of the Thundering Herd since Marshall joined Conference USA.
• Home Cooking: The Tigers were whistled for a foul a season-high 31 times.
• Memphis, which entered the contest ranked first in the conference in steals and second in blocks, had just two blocked shots and five steals, second-fewest of the season.
• The loss is Memphis' first this season in a game in which it held the opponent to worse than 40 percent shooting from beyond the arc; Marshall was held to 31.8 percent (7-for-22) from three-point range.
• Freshman Joe Jackson, who scored just four points in the Tigers earlier meeting with Marshall this season, had 12 points in this meeting.
• The Tigers had a season-low tying eight assists.
• Memphis scored a season-low seven points off turnovers.
• Senior Will Coleman grabbed the 100th offensive rebound of his U of M career.
• Sophomore Drew Barham tied a career high with three made three-pointers.
