Memphis vs. Tulsa
March 6, 2010
On challenges Memphis presented Tulsa?
They shoot the three so well. It's tough to go zone when they have four guys who can shoot it. Then they add Garcia who can shoot it as well. He spreads the defense. Then you have to deal with their ball screening. They really do a good job of putting their body on you, and they can shoot off of it. We tried to do a better job of containing the ball from the first game. Our game plan didn't work. They made shots. It was really the tempo we wanted. Our offense was inept. Defensively, they really took Ben Uzoh out of the game.
On playing an opponent on their senior day?
You never know how it's going to go. Sometimes seniors don't play well because they're so emotional about the whole thing. I know I didn't play well on my senior day. I didn't really address that too much with my team. We were trying to play for the bye, win the game, and control our destiny. That was our message to our guys. Give Memphis credit. They are playing well right now.
On hosting C-USA Tournament in Tulsa?
I think it's exciting for our city. It's a beautiful building. I think it's a break for the rest of the conference to go somewhere besides Memphis. That's nothing against Memphis. We like coming here. I just think it's a little more neutral for everybody to play on a neutral floor.

Josh Pastner Quotes
"A couple of things, first of all, back in April when I first got the job if I would have told everybody that we would be 23-8 and 13-3 in conference and have a shot at an NCAA berth, I would be doing cartwheels, handstands and I would be painting myself blue. I'm so proud of the players. First of all, they executed the game plan. I'm so proud of them just hanging in. Doing what we needed to. I thought Will Coleman was terrific. He just keeps getting better and better. Wesley (Witherspoon) was big on the glass. Willie Kemp had 10 assists and two turnovers. I think in the last second half of the Conference USA season his assist-to-turnover ratio has been phenomenal. Everybody played well. Drew Barham and D.J. Stephens hit big threes (at the end of the first half). Elliot (Williams) hit a big three in the second half. I was proud of Aaron (Jacques) to hit the shot to get the points. Angel (Garcia) came in and gave us good minutes. Tulsa is a good team. The reason we won was that they shot 33 percent from three-point range coming in and they shot 10 percent tonight. We did a good job on the glass. They were shooting 46 percent from the field coming into the game and we held them to 40 percent tonight. I am so proud of our players. It is the players. It is the players that win the game. The crowd has been fantastic the entire year and they were fantastic again tonight. I want to say a personal thank you to the entire tiger nation for the support they have given us from the first day in April to the first practice during Memphis madness and to the last game here. The support was unwavering. I'm so proud of Willie Kemp and Doneal Mack."
On Rebounding
"Will Coleman played like a pro today. Here is another thing we did today. Coach Wilson, Coach Murphy and Coach Cyprien do such a great job preparing our players to give them every ounce of energy to make sure they were prepared. Another thing that was key was our transition defense. Tulsa is good transition team and we held them to two transition points. That is a big thing for us. We also did a very good."
