Opening Statement
"Well, the defensive end did hurt us tonight. Every time they would get the ball to the basket, we couldn't stop them. When (Memphis) would drive to the basket we wanted to foul hard, but we weren't able to do that tonight. We kind of panicked at the end of the game, and we can't do that and be a successful team. We had too many unforced turnovers in the game, but we still had a chance. We played really hard, so I am happy about that."
Talk about the play of Aaron Johnson tonight.
"I thought he did a good job of using the screen at the top of the key and then driving to the hole. They were trapping on the ball screen and he did an excellent job on the decision making process."

On team's play rebounding from loss?
What an unbelievable effort. It was awesome. Fantastic. They battled for 40 minutes and left it on the floor for 40 minutes. I am so proud of them. After a tough loss on Saturday, to give the effort these guys gave without collapsing at key times down the stretch, says a lot about them. How about the fans? Once again those guys were awesome with a capital A-W-E-S-O-M-E, exclamation point, exclamation point. I'm so thankful for Tiger Nation.

On the 31 lead changes and 10 ties before Tigers turned it on at the end?
"Both teams were very good from the line. UAB was 93 percent (13-14), and we shot 89 percent (25-28). We won the game because we made free throws. Pierre Henderson-Niles made two huge free throws in the first half, and I'm so proud of him. You have to give UAB a lot of credit. They played well, and they are a good basketball team."
"I apologized to Angel Garcia at the end of the game for not getting him in. I feel horrible. I just wasn't able to because the game was going possession-by-possession. I'll do the best I can to get him in on Saturday."
On what he said to team at halftime?
"We made some defensive adjustments. We mixed it up between our box-and-one and our zone defense. We ran some man, and we trapped a little bit here and there. UAB made it tough for us. They have good players. I'm just proud of our guys. They battled and competed."
