December 23, 2010
FedExForum (Memphis, Tenn.)
Memphis Postgame Notes
* The Tigers fall to 2-8 all-time to Georgetown, losing their first home game against the Hoyas since 1997 when Georgetown defeated the Tigers at the Pyramid, 74-65.
* The loss was the worse suffered by the Tigers since moving to FedEx Forum in 2004-05. The Tigers only other double-digit defeat in the Forum came at the hands of Texas, which defeated the 2005-06 Tigers, 69-58, on Jan. 2.
* The 86 points given up to the Hoyas were the most the Tigers have ever surrendered at FedEx Forum, and the most given up in a home contest since the U of M fell to Arkansas, 90-73, on Jan. 2, 2002. The Hoyas scored 46 in the second half, most allowed by the Tigers in a half this season.
* Memphis went a perfect 6-for-6 from the line in the first half, their first perfect half from the charity stripe this season.
* Freshman Will Barton scored 18 points, his first game since Dec. 7 against Kansas in double-figures. He also hit more than one three in a game for the first time since Dec. 1 against Arkansas State, knocking down two first-half three-pointers.
* Senior Will Coleman scored 12 points, his second contest in a row in double digits. It marked the first time since the final two games of the 2009-10 season that he's been in double figures in back-to-back games.
* Freshman Chris Crawford drilled three three-pointers, his fifth game this season making three or more three-pointers.
* Freshman Tarik Black scored 10 points in just nine minutes of action. It was Black's first double-digit scoring effort since Dec. 4 against, Western Kentucky.
* A Tiger squad that entered the game first in Conference USA in steals at 11.2 per game finished with just eight takeaways against Georgetown. The Tiger defense forced just 11 Hoya turnovers, the fewest against the U of M this season. Dating back to the second half against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, the Tigers have made just nine steals in the last 60 minutes of play.
* Consequently, the 13 points the Tigers earned via turnover was their lowest output of the year.
* This game marked the second time the Tigers have allowed an opponent to shoot better than 50 percent from the field; the Hoyas were 33-for-58 (56.9 percent) from the floor. Kansas was the other. Both times teams have shot better than 50 percent from the field this season, Memphis has suffered the loss.
* Junior Charles Carmouche's 45-game streak with at least one point was snapped.
* Freshman Antonio Barton tied a career-high with four assists for Memphis.
* Georgetown outscored Memphis 48-32 in the paint, the biggest differential in paint points the Tigers have faced this season.
* Memphis had 18 second-chance points compared to four for the Hoyas, the Tigers largest lead in that category this season.
