• Memphis captains for tonight's game were seniors Philip Beliles, Tyler Griffin, Brandon Douglas.
• Sophomore linebacker Jeremy Longstreet made his first career start in today's game. He finished the game with a team and career high 11 tackles with a fumble recovery.
• Matt Reagan booted a 24-yard field goal for the first points of the game with 4:38 remaining in the first quarter. It was the first game this season that Memphis has scored first. Reagan is 3-of-3 this season from 20-29 yards out. His attempt from 32 yards out in the second quarter was blocked and returned 70 yards for a touchdown. The last time that Memphis had a field goal blocked, resulting in a touchdown was against Cincinnati in 2003 off a 76-yard return.
• The Tigers rushed for 110 yards in the first quarter, marking the first time since the UAB game last season that Memphis had rushed for 100 or more yards in a quarter. The Tigers ended the first half with 153 yards rushing, marking the first time since that same UAB game that Memphis has rushed for 150 yards in a half.
• Clinton McDonald registered his first sack of the season when he dropped Vincent Montgomery for a loss of five yards in the first quarter and forced the Colonels to punt on the next play.
• Duke Calhoun extended his receiving streak to 28 games with his eight-yard reception early in the second quarter. Calhoun now holds the school record with the 28-game streak. Coming into today's game, Calhoun had been tied for the record with Russell Copeland (1989-92).
• Sophomore tight end Deven Onarheim logged his second career reception when he hauled in the 10-yard pass from Arkelon Hall. Onarheim's only other catch was also a 10-yard gain in the New Orleans Bowl last season. He finished with two catches for 12 yards tonight.
• Charlie Jones scored off an 11-yard run with 8:47 remaining in the second quarter for his third rushing touchdown as a Tiger. Jones scored his second rushing touchdown of the game on a two-yard run in the fourth quarter for his fourth TD of the year. This is the second game this season he has scored two rushing touchdowns. Jones finished with 57 yards rushing on 11 carries. Jones, who played 2004-2006 at Miami, now totals 14 career rushing TDs.
• Steven Turner recovered a fumble on 1st-and-10 from the Memphis 32 late in the second quarter for his second career fumble recovery and his first since 2006 against Arkansas State.
• Duke Calhoun caught his first touchdown pass of the season; the 12th of his career, when he hauled in the 10-yard offering from Arkelon Hall to give Memphis the 17-10 advantage with 8:49 remaining in the third quarter. Calhoun finished the game with five catches for a team high 50 yards and a score. He now ranks third all-time at Memphis with 1,782 career receiving yards.
• Carlos Singleton extended his receiving streak to 25 games when he had his first catch of the game, an 11-yard reception, in the third quarter. Singleton now ranks fourth all-time at Memphis with the 25-game streak. Singleton totaled three catches for 40 yards and now ranks ninth with 1,398 career yards.
• Curtis Steele registered a career-high 109 yards on 20 carries in tonight's contest. His previous high was the 83 yards he totaled on 15 attempts versus Ole Miss. Steele is the first Memphis player to rush for over 100 yards this season. The last Tiger to pass the century mark was T.J. Pitts with 110 yards against SMU in 2007.
• Quarterback Arkelon Hall tallied his first rushing touchdown of the season when he scored off a three-yard run to give Memphis the 24-10 advantage with 8:16 remaining in the game. Hall passed for 173 yards on 16 of 30 attempts.
• Jeremy Rockette recovered his first fumble with 8:04 remaining in the game. The Tigers recovered the ball on the Nicholls State 41-yard line.
• Dasmine Cathey forced his first career fumble on a Nicholls State kickoff return in the fourth quarter. Jeremy Longstreet recovered his first career fumble on the play.
• The three fumbles recovered are the most since Memphis recovered three against UCF in 2007.
• Memphis held Nicholls State to 47 yards passing. It is the first time the Tigers have held a team to under 50 yards passing since holding Army to 16 yards on Nov. 13, 1999.
• The Memphis defense held Nicholls State to 164 total yards of offense. The last time the Tigers held a team to under 200 yards of total offense was 154 yards allowed to Marshall in 2005.
