Tigers Shut Down Charlotte, 91-69

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Sean Banks had a career-high 29 points and 10 rebounds, and Antonio Burks added 18 points and 11 assists Saturday as Memphis built a double-digit halftime lead and coasted to a 91-69 victory over Charlotte.
The Tigers (10-4, 1-2 Conference USA) led by at least 20 through much of the second half as they snapped a two-game losing streak by depending on long-range shooting. Memphis connected on 14-of-37 shots from 3-point range, including Banks hitting six of his seven.
Charlotte (10-4, 2-1) had won four straight entering the game.
Banks connected on 9-of-11 shots from the field and had four offensive rebounds. Burks added four steals and only one turnover to his performance.
Jeremy Hunt scored 14 for Memphis, and Anthony Rice finished with 10. Hunt also had 10 rebounds as Memphis dominated the boards 43-31.
Curtis Withers had 23 points for the 49ers, hitting 10 of 21 shots from the field. Eddie Basden had 10, all in the first half.
Memphis closed the first half with a 21-6 run to take a 45-31 lead at the break. The streak included nine straight points for the Tigers.
Memphis relied on its long-range shooting to build the lead. The Tigers connected on 8 of 18 shots from outside the arc. Banks, who led the Tigers with 13 points in the first half, hit all four of his 3-pointers. Hunt had 11 in the half.
Withers and Basden had 10 each for the 49ers as Charlotte shot 38 percent from the field.
Memphis continued to extend the lead early in the second half, eventually building the advantage to 60-41. Burks and Banks combined for 13 points in the first seven minutes.
Charlotte cut the lead under 20 only once in the final 7:57.
