Lady Tigers Soccer Shut Out by #17 Charlotte, 3-0

CHARLOTTE, NC - The 17th-ranked Charlotte 49ers broke open a scoreless tie in the second half with three unanswered goals to defeat the University of Memphis women's soccer squad 3-0 in Conference-USA action at Transamerica Field, Sunday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, in which each team was able to manage just two shots Charlotte's Lindsay Duncan scored the eventual game-winner in the 52nd minute of play when her shot from five-yards out found the back of the net. Courtney Crandell, the nation's 11th-ranked goal scorer, increased the lead to 2-0 in the 62nd minute off a free kick just outside the 18-yard box. Shannon Roberto scored the 49ers final goal in the 76th minute with a 30-yard blast to give Charlotte (8-0-1, 3-0-1 C-USA) the 3-0 win.
Memphis (4-4-1, 1-3-0 C-USA) will return to action on Friday, October 4, when they play a non-conference match at UT-Martin. Gametime is set for 4 p.m.
