Tiger Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision With Houston

HOUSTON, TEXAS - The University of Memphis Tiger volleyball team dropped a 3-0 meeting witth Houston here Saturday evening as Memphis drops to 12-3 on the year, 3-3 in C-USA. Houston won the match by game scores of 30-27, 30-17 and 30-22.
Senior Ginger Garrett led Memphis in hitting with 16 kills and a .256 hitting percentage. Garrett was the only Tiger to record double-digit kills in the match. Senior Amie Hamilton led the Tigers in defense with 13 digs while also totaling 28 assists. The Tigers hit just .086 as a team, which included 36 kills and 25 errors in 128 total attempts.
As a team, Houston hit .259 behind the hitting of Jennifer Whittenburg who totaled 16 kills and a .310 hitting mark. Jane Ann Karasek also recorded double digit kills for Houston with 10. Karasek also led the Houston defense with 13 digs.
The Tigers lost an earlier decision to Houston, 3-2, in Memphis just over two weeks ago.
The Tigers will play their next seven matches at home, beginning with an Oct. 12 meeting with the Golden Eagles of Southern Miss at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse.
