Tiger Soccer Drops 3-2 Heartbreaker At SLU

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - For one half of play, Memphis' speed along the front had the Tigers enjoying a 2-1 lead. That lead lasted only six minutes into the second period, however, as Memphis went on to drop a 3-2 decision to the Billikens in St. Louis on Saturday night.
Senior forward Sean Fraser gave the Tigers an early 1-0 lead at the 2:59 mark. Midfielder Stephen Lewis played a ball through to the speedy Lewis, who beat the St. Louis goalkeeper one-on-one.
St. Louis answered less then ten minutes later when forward Jack Jewsbury capitalized from 18 yards on a Mike Hill assist, beating Memphis' diving keeper, Clark Talley, to knot the score at one.
Senior forward Lars Thorstensen scored the second Tiger goal on a rebound at the 28:11 mark after Memphis midfielder Ken Matsuba's shot attempt deflected off the post.
But St. Louis took control in the second half when midfielder Brad Davis scored ealry in the sedon period and forward Dipsy Selolwane put away the game winner with just under 30 minutes remaining. After keeping the shot differential within two in the first half, Memphis was outshot 13-1 in the second period.
The Tigers are back in action this Tuesday when they head to Nashville to take on Belmont at 5 p.m.
