Tiger Volleyball Loses to Marquette

MILWAUKEE, WIS. - The University of Memphis Tiger volleyball team dropped to 17-6 overall, 5-6 in Conference USA with a 3-0 loss to Marquette here Friday evening.
The Tigers are looking to snap a three-match league losing streak when they face DePaul in Chicago on Saturday evening. Memphis lost the match to the Golden Eagles by game scores of 30-23, 30-25 and 30-22.
Seniors Adrianne Edmonds and Ginger Garrett led the Tigers in hitting with 17 kills and 12 kills, respectively. Edmonds hit for a .324 mark and also totaled six digs and one assisted block, while Garrett also totaled seven digs and two service aces. Amie Hamilton led the squad with nine digs, and also recorded 42 assists. Her 42 assists give her a season total of 1,033 assists for her second straight season of more than 1,000 assists.
The Tigers as a team recorded 46 kills and 21 errors in 123 attempts for a hitting percentage of .203, while Marquette totaled 49 kills and only nine errors in 112 attempts for a .357 team hitting mark. Vesna Grbavac led the Golden Eagles with 14 kills and a .438 hitting clip. Megan Markowski led Marquette's defense with 12 digs.
