Tiger Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to Cincinnati

MEMPHIS, TENN. - The University of Memphis Tiger volleyball team dropped to 15-5 overall, 5-5 in C-USA with a 3-0 loss to league leader Cincinnati here Saturday.
Cincinnati improved to 13-5 overall, 10-1 in C-USA with the 30-27, 30-23 and 30-27 wins over Memphis. The Bearcats were impressive offensively, hitting .310 as a team compared to Memphis' .182 team hitting mark. UC recorded their best hitting percentage of the evening in the first game as they totaled 21 kills in 41 attempts for a .415 hitting clip.
Seniors Emily Eichmann and Adrianne Edmonds led Memphis in hitting with 12 kills and 11 kills, respectively. Eichmann hit .233 and added six digs, while Edmonds hit .211 and added nine digs. Senior Amie Hamilton led the squad in digs with 13 and in aces with 34. She currently leads Conference USA in career service aces with 205. Hamilton also recorded 34 assists and an assisted block.
Four players for Cincinnati recorded double digit kills, led by Julie Dupont and Becky Stahl who each totaled 14 kills apiece. Bonita Wise tallied 12 kills and Trish Ladusaw rounded out the hitters with 11 kills. Ladusaw led the UC defense with 14 digs and two assisted blocks. Rachel Beran also recorded double figure digs with 11.
The Tigers will step out of Conference USA action this Tuesday when they host Jackson State and Murray State in The U of M Tri-Match. Memphis will play Jackson State at 12 p.m. and Murray State at 7 p.m. Jackson State and Murray State will face off at 2 p.m. All matches will take place on campus at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse.
