Memphis Edges Saint Louis In Overtime, 72-63

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Earl Barron scored eight points in overtime and Memphis hit 6-of-8 free throws in the final 46 seconds Thursday night as the Tigers defeated Saint Louis 72-63 in overtime.
Five Tigers scored in double figures as Memphis (9-8, 3-1 Conference USA) won its fifth straight.
Saint Louis (10-7, 2-2) had led by as many as nine in the second half, and held a seven-point advantage, 54-47, with 4:20 to play.
But the Billikens failed to score the rest of the way in regulation as Memphis scored the final seven points, the last coming on a 3-pointer by Scooter McFadgon with 44 seconds left.
Kelly Wise and Shannon Forman shared scoring honors for the Tigers with 17 each, and Wise grabbed 12 rebounds. Shyrone Chatman had 15 and McFadgon finished with 12. Barron had 10 points, including the eight in the extra period, and 11 rebounds.
Maurice Jeffers led Saint Louis with a game-high 20, while Marque Perry added 10.
In the overtime, Memphis began working the ball inside to Barron, who was filling in for Wise who fouled out with 1:23 left in regulation. Memphis went on a 10-1 run and Barron scored eight of them as Memphis held a 66-57 lead with 1:51 left.
Memphis eventually would lead by 10 points twice.
The game was close throughout with each team reeling off consecutive scoring runs. They were tied 28-28 at the half.
Neither team shot well with Memphis hitting 39.7 percent and Saint Louis hitting 37.3 percent.
