Springfield, Mo. - The Lady Tigers soccer team went on the road to play Southwest Missouri on Friday evening and dropped their second game of the season. Though the final score was 4-0, the game was much closer than the score implied. Southwest Missouri struck 25 minutes into the game to make it 1-0, and the game remained close until well into the second half.
In the 70th minute, Tiger goalkeeper Katarina Wicksell allowed her second goal of the evening, which took the wind out of the Lady Tigers. The Bears scored two more in the final 10 minutes to make the final 4-0.
"We came out playing and passing well early, but then the Bears got us into a game of kickball, said head coach Brooks Monaghan. When we went into the half only down one, we thought we were still in good shape, but they outplayed us in the second half."
The Lady Tigers return home to face Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday afternoon. Game time is at 1:00.
