MEMPHIS, TENN. - The University of Memphis women's soccer team went in to Sunday's match with Middle Tennessee looking to extend its two-game winning streak.
Early goals by Becca Amrozowicz amd Anja Nielson set the tone for the match, and the Lady Tigers were ahead 2-0 less than 13 minutes into the match. Jessica Gjertsen provided two goals for cushion, but they proved to be unnecessary.
Freshmen goalkeepers Katarina Wicksell and Kari Rawe combined for a second consecutive shutout, and Ali Baker, Gjertsen, and Nielson each added assists in the victory. The Lady Tigers are now 3-1 on the year and 2-0 at home. Their next match is at Southwest Missouri State on September 8, and they return home to host Southeastern Louisiana on September 10.
