MEMPHIS, TENN. - The University of Memphis Tiger soccer team (3-2) dropped a physical match on Wednesday night, to the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky University (1-4), 1-0. The match featured five yellow cards with three going to WKU.
Memphis would have a chance early when junior striker Sean Fraser ripped a shot off the post. The second half was dead-even with five shots for both teams, two of which resulted in tremendous saves by the Tigers keeper, Clark Talley (Houston H.S.).
The Hilltoppers would grab the game-winner with less than five minutes remaining when Steven Brown beat Talley to give Western Kentucky the 1-0 win.
The U of M will begin conference play on the road when they travel to take on the Bearcats of Cincinnati on Sunday, September 17th at 2 p.m. (CST). They will be on the road for the next three weeks before returning home to face the Cardinals of Louisville in their first C-USA match at home, on Saturday, October 7th at 3 p.m.
