Tigers Get Edge On South Florida

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Keiron Shine and Kelly Wise had 15 points apiece as Memphis won its fifth straight game and ended South Florida's Conference USA National Division title hopes in a 91-72 victory Saturday night.
Courtney Trask added 14 points for Memphis (14-15, 7-9), which also won its third straight road game for the first time since the 1991-92 season.
Altron Jackson had 20 points for South Florida. After winning 11 consecutive home games this season, the Bulls (17-12, 8-8) have dropped two in a row at the Sundome.
The two teams will meet again Wednesday in the Conference USA tournament.
Memphis had an 11-2 spurt to open the second half and took a 15-point lead, at 52-37, with 17 minutes left. Wise scored twice from in-close and Shannon Forman ended the run by hitting a 3-pointer.
After South Florida got back within 11 points, James Harris scored a rebound basket and Shine converted a 3-pointer, making it 68-52 with seven minutes remaining.
Shine had 10 first-half points as Memphis rebounded from a seven-point deficit and grabbed a 41-35 halftime lead.
South Florida started the game 8 of 11 from the floor - including two 3-pointers by Scott Johnson - and went up 21-14 halfway through the first half.
Memphis responded with a 15-1 run over the preceding four-minutes in taking 29-22 advantage. Shine hit consecutive 3's and the Tigers scored seven points off offensive rebounds.
