MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Rahim Lockhart scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds Saturday night to lead Mississippi to a 64-56 victory over Memphis.
Lockhart, who was 6-of-11 from the field, also added five blocks for the Rebels (7-0), who are off to their best start since 1936.
Also in double figures for Mississippi were Jason Flanigan with 14 points, Jason Harrison with 11 points and a game-high five assists and Justin Reed with 10 points.
Reserve Paris London led the Tigers (2-6) with 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds, while Kelly Wise added 13.
Memphis was playing without three key players. Courtney Trask and John Grice were suspended indefinitely Friday for unspecified team violations, while Shamel Jones broke his hand Friday in practice.
The Rebels responded by shooting 52.5 percent for the game from the field, to 31.5 percent for the Tigers.
Mississippi never trailed in the game and was tied only twice. The Rebels led 28-24 at the half.
Mississippi built the lead to 42-31 with an 11-3 run early in the second half. Six of the points in the streak came from Lockhart, including a dunk to cap the stretch with 12:56 left.
The Rebels maintained a 50-41 lead with 6:53 left on a 10-footer by Harrison, but Memphis made the last run of the game.
The Tigers scored the next 9 points to tie the game 50-50. London scored buckets at the start and the end of the run, the final one on a baby hook with 4:52 to play.
But Mississippi got a pair of free throws from both Lockhart and Flanigan to take a 54-50 lead with 3:59 left, and Memphis never got closer the rest of the way. The Rebels connected on 6-of-6 free throws in the final 44 seconds, including four by Harrison.
