MEMPHIS - Kelly Wise scored 24 points and blocked four shots as the University of Memphis defeated Team Georgia 88-69 in its second exhibition game of the preseason on Wednesday.
Memphis now turns its attention to its season opener Nov. 17 when the Tigers play host to Temple in a nationally-televised game.
On Wednesday, the Tigers got off to a slow start as Team Georgia took an early 15-7 lead and led much of the first period.
However, Shamel Jones' reverse layup and ensuing free throw with 3:44 to play gave Memphis a 33-31 lead and the Tigers would never trail from there. The U of M closed out the half with a 17-4 run to lead 47-35 at the break.
Memphis shot 51.5 percent from the field for the game, including 57.6 percent in the first half.
Shannon Forman, who missed the first exhibition game, returned Wednesday to score 14 points, pull down three rebounds and dish out three assists. John Grice and Courtney Trask both finished with 12 points.
Dale Miller led Team Georgia in scoring for its third straight exhibition, finishing with 16 points. Former Tulane guard Chris Cameron scored 14 points and had four steals.
